Had my wheels balanced at ATS few weeks ago. I was still getting steering wheel vibration above 65mph. Left my car at a Subaru dealer and asked them to balance them too, they did, but vibrations still there, although not as bad.

A few weeks later, car been in dealer again for other stuff and they balanced the 2 fronts AGAIN, still getting vibrations!!!! Can even feel it through the floor at certain speeds!!!

I am now a bit worried that it may not be the wheels...

Anyone had similar troubles, if so, let me know the outcome.

Many thanks

Had same about 70, went through wheel balancing bit but ended up being a wheel bearing on the back. Now it seems ok. Have you checked those?

No, will get checked, thanks for advice. However, had a new one not long ago so both should have been checked then!!

have you checked the tyres are ok?

could easly be a small bulge in one especially if its getting worse.

isn't it amazing how you can have your wheels balanced and go striahgt to another tyre depot and they'll find the wheels are out of balance if they check them. go to a third and chances are they'll find they need balancing again.

i'm not saying that its a con as ive seen computerised balancers throw up differing readings on same wheel every time you spin it

on the other hand it makes you wonder about some places

Pretty recent tyres on it too, would spot a bulge. I know though, once had a garage do a wheel, take it off and check again and it was out of balance again, funny that, like you say!!!!

spin the wheels by hand whilst they're on car, often you can see a small distortion if you watch from the front or back of car whilst they're turning. its only got to be a smidge and you'll feel it.

is the steering definatly shaking? as i've had cases where the wheel has been the only thing not shaking but becasue the rest of car was shaking together it felt like the wheel. if the wheel isn't shaking then it could be back end of car. in any case it could bee bearing or driveshaft instead of wheel

Also keep in mind that lowering, stiffening, altering the size of wheels can change the way vibrations come into the car. Even stiffer bushes (like an ALK) can do this.
Here in Antwerp we have also bits of road, new ones also, that give vibrations, very strange but it seems a way for the governement to keep^the money in their pockets, and go for some cheap tarmac.
