I'm thinking about doing somebody bodywork and paint restoration on the Porsche (couple of dents and few stone chips)
Anybody got some good info/links about how to go about preping and sparying a car?

Ta

I'd be interested in this too. Seems to be a bit of an art

I dont think this is the correct forum?

if you havent done it before dont try..

I would sand to bare metal around dent, Fill using filler... sand until smooth and flat using a block.. starting with a fairly coarse sandpaper about 180 then work up to smoother about 400 ish..

then spray with a 2 pack primer / filler..

Sand this flat with 600 wet and dry... clean up... spray lightly with a dark paint.. leaving speckles.. wet and dry this.. anywhere the paint is left is a hole which wants filling with a 2k stopper, or similar filler.. then keep doing this.. its hard to say really how to do it...

But once you have primer on it.. take it out into sunlight.. if you can see it outside or feel it then you will once the paint is on..

Only use 2k paint.. dont bother painting a car or car panels with aerosols..

The way I normally paint flat colours.. is primer the car if req. paint using spray gun at about 20 - 30 psi (1.8mm nozzle on my gun) paint a line, keeping the gun square to the panel.. start the spraying before the panel and stop after the panel, paint a flat line across the panel at a constant speed and distance.. (Practice on something - dont try and put too much on) then paint across again overlapping the last line by about 50% leaving a wet line.. then move aross the panel...

I also do all the edges and awkward bits lightly first..

I dont paint for a living so cant comment..

but have just done this http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=149898

Thanks David

I'll have a good practise on an old pannel first. If I can't do that well I won't venture anywhere near the car.

BTW Some very odd forum hopping going on here
