Did the 98 not have the slanted intercooler engine? If so then then the dump valve is not in the same place.
My OE dumpvalve was metal certainly not plastic? I'm now a Forge boy and quite happy with it

UK 98MY has non-slanty IC. Think it's the same as 00 etc, but its certainly not the slanty early one (not on my 98 anyhow !)
I'll be putting some more pics on my web site soon, so I'll try and get one of the DV - cos mines standard

Matey - I'll try and put the pic up tonight and I'll add a reply to this thread with the url.
The standard 98 is plastic, or at least mine is ! Brun, I think that the 99-> had a better, metal DV.
If you look at the IC, from the front of the car, it is in the closest right hand corner of the IC. You'll see a hose leading down. This goes into a plastic drum, about 2 inches deep, which has three connections. The hose in, a hose out, going down and a hose going horizontally, towards the back of the engine.
Hopefully , the photo will help,
Mark

It was the MY99 onwards that had the BOV attached to the intercooler, I have MY98, and it is definitely the face-lifted classic model, and the BOV is definitely remote from the intercooler

Cheers, Ragnarock[2 ?]
I think that the 97/98 is supposed to be the 'dodgy' one - the 99-> had the improved version ?
I've had no probs with mine though .....
