Unhappy

I've recently experienced power cutting out while accelerating on my 98 UK Turbo.

It's happened in all the gears but at different RPMs. Normally between 3k and 4k.

The "check engine" light hasn't come on, so can't check that for fault codes.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any help appreciated!

Mark.

Hi Mark

I've just picked up an early '99 car that also has turbo surging / cutting out at higher speeds. Garage thinks it is a faulty Duty Solenoid, and it's quite common prob.

yep - sounds like overboost. the ECU will cut the fuel (so called fuel cut)when boost peaks too high.
could try cleaning the boost solenoid & pipes out , or it may require a change of restrictor.

use search facility and you should find some details on the cleaning procedure.

cheers
