No, the 93-96 are NOT the same. 92-94 was th2 240ps model and 95-96 was the 260ps model. Don't know where you got that info from Shane but it's wrong.

Best thing to do Mark is get a scoobyecu adaptor, probably works out cheaper plus you'll get a better map than the 96WRx map.

Tony.

Yep, same place as above, had mine now for about 3 months or so.

You can interchange the ecu's if you want but they probably cost £150, the scoobyecu adaptor is about £60. Not really a contest. Give David, Paul or Scott a shout and they'll be able to sort you out.

Tony.

P.s just got 271bhp and 252lb'ft of torque using one of the adaptors.

I think Shane may be quoting for their domestic impreza's not jap imports as he is from New Zealand and I presume their's were called wrx's as well as Australia may be wrong though

Justin,

Car is a MY93WRX with induction kit and full decat. The map is a 16.5psi one from Paul (Pavlo). It seemed to be only getting a bar of boost tho (the gauge is probably the answer to this... bit inaccurate). On the first of the runs i got about 286bhp but with the fan not pointing at the TMIC and the heat soak there after i then got about 270 then 260 bhp..... this is then averaged on the computer and the print out said 271bhp. Not bad but i think the first figure is more what it feels like on the road .

Interesting stuff Tony. I'm running a MY95 WRX with full decat and K+N panel filter (res removed) with a Dawes set at 1.0 bar (14.5 psi) and that got me 283bhp on PE's rollers, argably a bit more generous than Well lanes. When on the rollers boost dropped to 13.8psi when getting those figures. So I reckon the generous figure at 13,8psi is probably about the figure when boosting on the road .

I'm going the same route as you and getting the 16.5psi map soon from Scott, it will be interesting to see what I can get on PE's rollers then .

Does anyone know the differences between the MY93-94 and the MY95-96 WRX's WRT engine / ancillery components? I know the maps were different, I just wondered if the reason why Subaru got more power out of the later cars was purely a better map, or were there other components upgraded?

Thanks

Justin

As far as im aware the power was gained due to the map.... not sure about CR etc.

One thing about the pre95Wrxs is that most have close deck blocks...... which is nice .

I've had one fitted, said this a few times before, hope I don't sound like a broken record! It's seriously the best thing I've purchased so far. Well recommended, more torque, higher boost, I think fuelling is slightly changed to compensate for our crappy stuff. The map is also switchable, so you can have an incar switch for wife mode!!! Generally feels like a different car, buy one!

Having read this thread and others similar, i am seriously considering investing in the adaptor for my motor ...MY 93wrx.

One question, tho' and its something i need to consider i do a fair amount of motorway mileage, back n too to work ... economy? at the momnent i get around 25mpg average, what would fitting the adapter do?

...standard car, with just a VTA dump valve fitted.

Cheers

Frank
