Question

Symptoms - raised water and oil temp. No loss of oil pressure, no loss of power or anything like that. Coolant system took approximately 3/4 litre water when filling up. Very faint and slight hissing noise coming from ain hose out of rad.

Car is being looked at and hopefully sorted later on today...........am I right in my thinking?

could be a hose, or it could be the rad, if small enough some radweld should cure it, hoes are not that expensive, rads are !!

Cool

Personally I wouldn't use radweld or anything like it on a scooby cooling system.

I don't intend to.

Getting it looked at tomorrow.

I am thinking that the rad fan isn't working - poss electrical issue and I am going to do an oil change on it aswell.

Talking

Well, Ant and I had a look at her this morning.

We completely emptied the coolant system and filled it back up again, ensuring no air was in there.
Idled her till the engine started warming up and did a thorough check on all of the fluids.

The temps are now back to normal, oil level is spot on and the oil itself is looking quite clean - smells as it should do and no sign of any mixing. No sign of oil breach into the coolant system either, no telltale smell ffrom it and the exhaust fumes are clean - just a bit of condensation, no oil.

The rad fans are now kicking in, I think it was the cars way of shouting and saying it was ill!!!!

I am still going to run it to the garage for a damn good look at in case we missed anything. At least I am happy to drive it now, else I would have called the RAC to flat bed it to the garage rather than run the risk of the engine overheating.

I can smile once again - thanks to Karl (turbosystems) who talked to me via MSN about the symptoms and what to look at/for.
