Want more power
I want more power from my MY93 WRX. Can it be as simple as replacing the ecu with a later one? I have heard this mentioned somewhere but can't remember where. Also considering the Scoobytunes options from the scoobyshop. Any advice please guys and gals.
How much of a gain do you want? If significant, it's not as simple as this, sorry
While a straight remap will give gains, it'll be similar to PPP gains on the later my99/00 cars.
An engine lives on air - more you can get in (assuming you can get more fuel in too
) the more power you make. But then the fuel system and (ultimately) the internals must be able to cope.
A remap only allows you to optimise any given hardware environment.

You really must start with a filter of some kind, be it panel or induction kit and an exhaust as a minimum..
This will free up some power for a start before you start looking at ecu upgardes..
You can fit 95/96WRX ecus to our cars which will up the power a bit..
For example, our cars come with 230bhp (240ps) as standard, Dan B on here has a full decat/ITG filter and a 95 ecu on his 93WRX and made iirc 272bhp..

Thats what I wanted to know Rob. I've already got a full decat, K+N filter. I've tried the bleed valve route but i wasn't happy so I took that off. I know that the only difference in power on the STi's was the ECU so I wanted to know if it was the same with the WRX. Cheers
