If your car is a UK car (ie bought from a UK Subaru Dealer) then i wouldnt add a ECUTEK just yet (until your warranty runs out) otherwise you will invalidae the warranty.
Your best options first will be the addition of an exhaust, if your car is a euro import then your not really going to affect your warranty unless you have a problem and then your going to be a bit screwed....
Modifying is a bit "swings and roundabouts" for where you gain you may then loose more.

It's a shame though, I've heard really good reports on here and elsewhere about the EcuTek! In the end I decided to play safe and order the PPP. It was fitted this morning and I've been driving around with the radio off and a silly grin on my face ever since!!

Cheers for the advise Tony. Car is UK supplied, soon be out of warranty though (done 55000 miles). Had an exhaust system fitted from turbo back. Will wait till warranty runs out then decide what to do. May have had some more feed back by then.

I also know of someone who has recently had a TEK to replace the PPP ECU. He'll tell you that there is no comparson, and the ECUTEK is massively better, better peak power, wider spread of power, smoother delivery and yet better fuel economy when you're cruising. After some research, I believe in it enough that I'm getting a tek from Power Engineering on Friday.

Was there another thread recently where somebody said that as the EcuTek was a reprogram of your original ECU, then your local garage wouldn't be able to tell you had it?
I would be VERY interested one if this were true!

Got to remember - ANY mod can invalidate your warranty.
Food for thought.

PS. I'm going to get a TEK2 next april time and my baby will only be 6 months then!

Scoobysport will re-map my original ECU if i post it down to them
is this any good or do i really need to take the car down? Does anyone know of someone doing the EcuTek 3 in the North?

What most people call a tek 3 involves a full custom re-map and can't be done by post. The remap and send back to you would be called by most people a tek 2. This will give a big improvement, but you would probably get more with a full custom remap. From the north, your best bets would be either Graham Goode who can do some ecutek stuff (Leicester) or Scotland. Not sure exactly who does the bugeyes yet - don't think Mr Banks does as yet?
