clutch release bearing help pls
#1
right my clutch went the other day, its a brand new clutch and basket so i assume its not a problem with either of them, ive been told by a gearbox shop that its the clutch release bearing which has just come unclipped and that its a simple job to clip it back on. However, they then asked for 200 quid to do this and told me id get no guarantee it wouldnt come off again down the road. weve had the gearbox out of a scooby before in 25 minutes so im contemplating doing this myself with a few m8s.
Does anyone know anything about the release bearing, how easy it is to refit etc Any help/suggestions will be appreciated.

It's not quite that simple.
Firstly, was the bearing replaced with the clutch, and second, was the cover NEW, or recon.
There are a few recon clutches out there. This in itself is not necessarily a problem, but what is, is the condition of the centre clip that retains the release bearing.
If the clip is worn, or damaged, you will never get the bearing to lock into place.
The only way you will identify the problem, is when it's looked at.
