Anyone now of a good place to get my scoobs MOT done in the Gloucester/cheltenham area?
somewhere that has a four wheel brake tester would be handy.

top bloke in Alma Road Up-hatherly Chelt.
funily enough "Alma road Garage"
good mate of mine for many years.
not a four wheel brake tester tho from memory.
at the speeds the tester goes at I don't think it does damage.

Am I right in saying the centre diff is viscous ??
if so don't worry at such slow speeds.

Cheaper when you get to know him too
Andy.

Thumbs up

Try 1st for Fast MoTs in Bristol Road Gloucester. Used then for over five years now. Bob and Mark run this friendly two man operation and are always helpful, fair and reasonable. Over the years, I've recommended them to several friends, relatives and colleagues all of whom have received satisfactory service. They are in Yellow Pages ...

By coincidence I passed the Alma Road garage Fuzz mentions today .... a neglected looking MG on the forecourt caught my eye there ...

I usually pre-book my cars for MoTs and that way am able to watch them do the test (always useful) at the appointed time whilst I wait. Occasionally they'll draw attention to something under the car (not necessarily a "fail") when it's up on the ramps for various checks. When was the last time you had a good look under your car .. did you forget to double check when you scraped the sump/floor/suspension on that speed hump or brick in the road? Once you've found a good MoT outfit, stick with them. It's useful to get on friendly terms with your tester - he is not your enemy despite some horror stories we sometimes hear about come MoT time ....

I use 1st for Fast MoT too.

For the brake test they shoot off up the road with a little swinging pendulum thing.

Agreed, very friendly and able to do some repairs on the spot. They replace some work brake hoses on my wifes car last year and a spot of welding on the Prelude I had a couple of years ago.
