Guys an' gals

Noticed a strange noise coming from the car this afternoon.

When moving off at slow speed (well you have to try it every now and then) I heard a squeak. It wasn't a constant squeeeeeeeeeak, like the one you get with squeaky brakes, it was more of a squeak..........squeak.....squeak..squeak, which seemed to get faster with speed. Although I couldn't say for sure where it was coming from the fact that it seems related to speed suggests it might have something to do with the wheels?

Anyway, only noticed it after the car was warmed up, and having been in a little traffic. Didn't get it throughout the entire journey, just now and then.

Thanks,

Rich. MY00, 60k service about 6 weeks ago. Red Mica ('cos that makes all the difference ) And loving it.

Well, hope it's nothing serious - off to the Motor Show today.

Talking

Try keeping it squeeking at a low speed and then use your left foot to gently apply the brakes. If the squeek goes before the car stops its a brake thing - possibly brakes binding, pads need re-newing or a bit of pad has broke off and is jammed between pad and disc. I would suggest taking the brakes off the car and give them a good clean.

Other than that i'm not sure. It sounds to me wheel related and may be a small amount of rust which has developed on the disc overnight.

Good luck

John
