Question

Have bought a pair of side rubbing strips for my P1 and wanted to get them colour coded.
Dealer said it had to be done once they were stuck on the car as they were too flexible to do them whilst off.
This seems like a major faff to me; can they be done off the car then stuck on after?

Have tried search but no answers to this specfic query.

Yes they can, but avoid flexing them once painted. I prepared and sprayed mine (DBM) some while before fixing them. There was a thread on this very subject some time ago in which I described the procedure I used. You may need to search back some way. Let us know if you can't find it.

I agree, leave them for at least 36hrs to 'harden off' before you start pressing thumb prints into them

Point taken about doing it myself however I wouldn't trust myself with a coloured pencil let alone car spray paint
