Sorry I know this is the wrong section to post technical and as the query is regarding a clapped out 309 1.6 its the wrong forum to.
Basically stupid girl here in work wanted to clean her "dirty leads that come from the engine".
Of course she didn't make a note of what leads go where so now her car is sounding like a tractor
an idea of the lead order from top of coil to bottom ?
sorry to post here just she is driving me nuts !

Cool

Get her to pop into Halfords and buy a Haynes manual, then she wont bug you again

Either that or just have a look at the right page while you are in instead of buying it ;D

If it is wrong now it can be wrong again. Have a play. There are only about 24 combinations. Just don't crank it over too long if it doesn't fire. Couple turns. And if it does fire don't rev the bollox out of it if it sounds like a Cumbrian lane cruiser.

Firing order is 1 - 3 - 4 - 2. There are then only 4 possible combinations for you to try, once you have worked out the direction of rotation of the engine. If it's running now but rough, you have at least one, or possibly 2 right. Leave it running and pull a lead off. If it makes no difference, it's wrong. If it stalls, it's right. Simple job.
