22B shop manuals...
#1
Okay guys & gals, this is a strange request. I'm trying to help a friend locate some shop repair manuals for the 22B, particularly the ones related to the engine. The car apparently has a bit of rod knock. I think the car has about 50K kilometers on it and looks like it's been driven very hard.
The strange part is that someone has imported one here to Houston, TX. The dealer, their service manager, and technician, are at a loss to figure out what to do with the car. So far they have had no luck with SOA (Subaru of America).
Does anyone have any idea where they could find this info? They are going to try and pull the engine today, but I don't think they'll be able to do much after that.
Any assistance, ideas, etc will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Adam

No it's not. They brought a few over back in '98 or so for the press to play with and review. It was rumored that those cars could be imported on a show car/test vehicle type registration. But, they could only be here for a year, and then they had to be destroyed.
This car is in on the same type of registration for a year, but it has the option to go back to the UK. Thank god. I couldn't bear the thought of having to send this beauty to the crusher!

there is nothing fancy about the 22B engine over a normal 2 litre STi unit apart from the obvious capacity diference, everything is pretty much the same. Trey Cobb is the guy you need to talk to, he is in Texas.
