#1
posted this on styling but theres not the same level of viewers over there lol.
i bought a car which came with silver tints on the rear side windows. not the coolest to look at since the eighties. i fancy putting on black tints but does anyone know how best to remove old film and all the adhesive that remains on the windows?
hope someone can help.
thanks, neil

Just be patient mate... i had the exact same thing.... it was silver tint too.... i just started peeling it off bit by bit.... you can get the remaining stick crap off with white spirit and some elbow grease....
Alternativly try heating the tint up with a hair dryer it might make it a bit easier...!!
Good luck... remember be patient if you pull on it to hard you leave more of the sticky crap on....

Some tar and glue removers are good for removing the residue left behind. Some arent so good, just a case of trying them. If its on the rear screen, chances are the heated rear window aint gonna work again. Heat helps remove the main film.

When having my RX7 tinted, I saw the guys removing some tints. They used a heat gun to warm it up, then used a scrapper to remove it. Not sure what substance they then used to clear the glue from the windows. But the films came off really easily.

thanks for the replies guys.
have decided to kop out and just get the back one done in silver first. i can do it myself for not too much cash and if i dont like it, well then worry about removing them. seems that peeling and then thinners is the best way to go if it comes to that
