Ok, just about half dismantled the dash to get the clocks out to fit the new dial kit. I know I need to disconnect the speedo cable so that I can pull the unit forward, except I can't bl**dy well do it. I found where the cable connects, but do I just pull it hard, unscrew it, press something...? Anyone got any pics/done it before?

Ta.

I'll answer my own question then - the easiest way is to apply a bit of lateral thinking and disconnect the cable at the other end, i.e. in the engine bay. This then allows you to pull the clocks forward enough the see the speedo cable on the back of the clocks and to remove it with the aid of a small screwdriver to prize open the clips.

Just one last point - no matter how careful you are, accept the fact that you will break something.

its a lot easier on a uk car, no speedo cable!!!!

didnt break anything, just scratched the plastic fascia on the stupid sharp bit of aluminium on top of the steering column, learnt from my mistake & applied a bit of electrical tape to it 2nd time round!!
