Question

Hi all, i ve seen a few articles on Aussie sites/forums about deposits left in intakes/plugs and turbos from octane boosters, this can be good for the combustion process surely??? has anyone any experience of this here? one shot I saw had VERY fuzzy looking plugs.... just curious...

Cheers

Interested to know two..

Was going to start using some... intension was only to put it in with normal unleaded if I couldn't get super.. but I knew it would end up being used all the time.. Anyway... was looking into NF or Millers and then saw John Banks post with orange deposits over everything and have put the idea on hold.

Not sure if the deposits are there normally and the octan booster just coloured them or if the octan booster caused the deposits..

I shall search for the thread and link it, if I find it.

you can use Turbo uploader or go to the post it is in and click <edit> and copy the image url bit out of that thread and it will reference it directly etc..

My plugs had the orange coating but did not look black and bubbly like the insulators on those ones. I thought it was due to octane booster, but then others said their plugs were orange and they had only ever used Optimax.

Perhaps Optimax is NUL + NF

Just some background on the photos posted.
I personally know the owner of the plugs.
He used to own an V5 (? - MY00) Oz spec Sti.
PowerFC, BPM zaust, AVO FMIC etc etc....
He used to do some high speed cruising (200km/hr + )every week and used Nulon Pro Strength Octane Booster exclusively.
His Cat. converter was also contaminated by the Ob as well and had to be replaced.

If you plugs end up like that the recomendation is to either change the brand of fuel/fuel additive you are using or the valve guide seals need replacing.

In other words if your plugs look like that never use that fuel additive again

If your plugs are an orange colour, your should try a colder plug.

Using to much by the looks of it.
Engine can only use so much RON, Obviously thats not possible with OB from the UK.
