Default AEM Oil Pressure Gauge - Low pressure when cold start

Hi guys,
I had my AEM oil pressure installed 1.5 years ago, and it worked with no issues. But this morning I found the oil pressure was showing 16pst (first second, however, it was showing 90-100 before) and the pressure rose to normal during 2-3 mins.
The engine was running normally, with no oil leak, oil level was good.
Oil 5w30, OEM black Subaru oil filter.
Does it mean that the oil pressure sensor or gauge failed?
Please advise. Thank you

Depending on model it might be worth checking the oil pickup pipe in the sump too as they can fail.
Do you have the OE pressure sensor attached still?

Thanks for the message.
I do not have the original sensor attached.

Interestingly, it shows low pressure in the morning when the cold starts—the engine sounds are normal, nothing weird. I started the engine after 4-5 hours of wait - the pressure was 70-80psi, kinda ok.
Also, when the engine is warmed up and driving normally in the city, it shows higher oil pressure readings than before, like 80-90psi under normal acceleration when it was 50-60 before.

I changed the oil and filter right away - no change.

Oil pick up? I removed the pan, cleaned everything, and replaced all the O-rings last spring. But the issue was found suddenly, just a couple of days ago.
I suspect that the sensor is failing, so I ordered a new one...

i was going to say its more likely oil temperature related. Do you have an oil temp sensor? or just pressure?

it usually takes near 1.5-2 times as long for oil temp to get up to temp as opposed to coolant temp. so was thinking what youre seeing is because coming into winter months especially in Canada?

It is not, because it worked normally for 1.5 years.
I just nstalled the OEM oil pressure sensor and the indicator turns off right away after the engine cold starts and does not show up while the engine is running. So 99.9% that AEM sensor failed.

Update: I got a new sensor, installed it and the readings are normal again, 90+psit at the cold start in the morning.
