Default Intercooler Spray Strange Issue

Hi all,

I have a strange Intercooler Spray Issue, hatch STi.

past week or so its started coming on when I dont think it should be.... sometimes the car isn't even up to temp and its coming on. doesn't make a difference if the button is in the auto position or centre/off.
Assuming there is a temp sensor that it uses to dictate when to spray? Just the inlet temp sensor?

Thanks!

Just to be clear, this is when you hear the pump operating, not when the intercooler light on the dash flashes?

Hedgecutter, not sure tbh the car is quite loud and the pump is in the boot, so wouldn't know if it was spraying without actually seeing it I suppose? Tank has been draining so I presume so.

And that schematic could be useful!

So how do you know when it's operating? I can hear mine pretty clearly, except at WOT.
I'm asking because the dash light signifies low tank level, not operation. Torque GT, in their Spec C blog, make the same mistake, thinking the blinking light shows when it is operating.
However, the pump shouldn't operate at all when switched off

Hedgecutter, good point....
I topped the tank up yesterday and haven't drove since but will see what its like tommorow. If its drained it that quickly thats astonishing as I havent even done 400 miles 🤣
