Default central locking issue

Hi All
i have a 2006 Hawkeye Impreza Sti and the car isnt locking from the buttons on the key. Thought is was the battery in the key and got it replaced, any still no joy.
So checked under the dash and the plugs were changed that you use to reprogram key were plugged into each other.

so tried the process of reprogramming the key which seem to work the locks locked and opened again.
but when i unplug the plugs under the dash and reconnect to the way they are meant to be, The key button dont work.

any Ideas??

thanks
Donie

As it's JDM, has it had an Alarm fitted?? which connects to the central locking??

What method have you found to "reprogram" the system and where were the plugs??

If similar to UK then the keyless connectors (single pole white) are behind the drivers side kick panel next to the A pillar.

Hi Don

Not sure if there is an an alarm fitted, a little box unit fell out from the behind the drivers side door card when removing it. It is plugged into the loom.
The plugs are behind the driver side kick panel. When i say i, it was a subaru tech that had a quick look for me when changing the gearbox and diff oils.
he said you can re code the key to the car through that process of plugging in different plugs and holding the lock button on the driver door witch beside the window buttons.

i was trying to get a better look to see what he was at.
I'm not sure whether its the key fob that the problem is with??

UK Version for MY06/07 (no Body Integrated Unit fitted)

1. KEYLESS TRANSMITTER REGISTRATION

NOTE:

• A maximum of three keyless transmitters can be registered for each individual vehicle.

• When replacing or adding the keyless transmitter (key), registration for the immobilizer system is also necessary.

1. Remove the driver’s side sidesill cover, and then connect the registration connector at the lower portion of front pillar.

2. Push the door lock switch at driver’s side to UNLOCK, and then unlock the door lock.

3. To register, with the driver’s side door lock switch pressed to the UNLOCK side, press any button of the keyless transmitter twice. To make a registration of additional 2nd and 3rd keyless transmitters, press the button of each keyless transmitter twice with the driver’s side door lock switch pressed to unlock side.

4. Door lock automatically operates LOCK and UNLOCK in order. This indicates that registration of the keyless transmitter is completed.

5. After all registration is completed, disconnect the registration connector. Check the door lock operation with the newly registered keyless transmitter, and then install the driver’s side sidesill cover.
