Default GT3082r Turbo - Thoughts & Recommendations

Hi All,

I've come across a set up including this turbo that is offered at a good price. The plan would be to put this on a forged 2.5 STI block.

Wondered if anyone had any thoughts? He said he can sell me the turbo and the relevant up/down/wastegate and turbo with two cartridges.

My aim is to achieve over 400hp.

Wondered if anyone had any experience of a similar set up on their own or known car and if its a worth while purchase.

Other turbos i've been recommended for similar performance figures are the SC46 and the RCMPT07 (RCM Precision Turbo) and the OD 71hta

Any others worth considering. i don't want to max out the turbo i'm running, rather it be a bit safer within its limits. Im aware these could probably handle more than i'm throwing at them. Seems the more sensible idea, but i've never gone beyond the 350hp mark and as such at the limit of my knowledge so advice would be helpful from fellow owners who have already gone down this path.

Cheers

Isn't the GT3082 something like a 600hp turbo? If you're just aiming for between 400-450, that turbo will be _much_ laggier than smaller alternatives. I'd look at others instead tbh.

So out of the alternatives any ideas or any suggestions of others?

I was always told to buy the smallest turbo that will do the power you want. That way you have better response. Better still build for the way a car drives more than number chasing.

SC42+ is a 450hp turbo as are the Lateral MDX321T or Turbo Dynamics MDX555-450 the smaller versions of the last two (MDX321H/MDX555-400) will make 400 if pushed.

thanks. i want to hit the 450hp mark if i can, but set a marker for myself on a forged sti block of 420/430hp. I had been looking at the mdx321H/T

i'll just have to keep an eye out see if i can find one for sale to keep costs down as my budget is creeping over 4k at the moment for the upgrade.

The MDX321H will hit that target. i will be doing the same with a 2.1 as i want a quick response. most likely running 1.7+ bar.
