Pas pump priced.
A genuine oem pas pump from ICP IS £599 and naturally its expected to have a premium being a genuine Subari part but can a £189 one from Germany really be that bad?

Except it's not the part for a Hawkeye JDM STI.
Part number required is 34430FE070;34430FE071 or 34430FE072

So you've been reading NASIOC or other site with it linked
https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho...&postcount=474
As you have now found out the Hawk JDM's have a higher output pump hence the different part number.
What would be the point of fitting a motorsport pump and especially the cost.
Seems pointless if you are going to map it for 95 Ron to save costs.

Also been reading how our american friends are upgrading to a 2015 rack.
Maybe I shouldn't do that either as it won't like 95?

You seem to be sending out strange mixed messages, - remap to 95 RON to save on fuel costs and possibly buy a remanufactured or aftermarket PAS pump (even tho not for your car as the JDM version is already higher output) to save cost, and then in almost the same breath look at upgrading to a motorsport spec PAS pump when the JDM original is more than fine for everyday use which apparently used by Prodrive.

I want to go to 95 ron to save worrying about being out on the road and having to think where my next fill up is. I'd go lpg but need the boot for camping & fishing gear. Not to mention the wife using the car and having to drill it into her about the right fuel.
I didn't realise a jdm power steering pump was different to a uk version until I read about the flow rates etc. That's why I put the post asking why it was so much cheaper.
I'm a strong believer in buying better if stock needs replacing.
If theres a group n pump that's better then the standard jdm pump then I'll buy it.
