Hi all I have an 2001 uk300 bugeye Running 340bhp
im almost getting what I can describe as an air hissing noise in 3rd and 5th gear it’s not there in 2nd and as soon as I go into 3rd even with the clutch still down the noise starts then goes in 4th and comes back in 5th. The noise in coming from the front of the car, it’s almost although the window is down a little bit and air Is getting in,
its not a boost leak and I’ve checked the wheel bearings.
Has anyone experienced this same noise

Is it there at a slower speed in those gears or higher speed in the other gears

 

Thinking about it I wonder if air is going over the gear linkage and whistling maybe?

 

Center Diff ??

 

The noise comes as soon as you go into 3rd or 5th with the clutch still down at whatever speed, it’s nice and quiet in 2nd and 4th sounds like I have an induction kit sucking air in in the other gears.
I’m changing the rear diff at the weekend as that is noisy on over run, car has been a pain in the **** to be honest. Might fix it and sell it and get another classic.
