Default JIS or Philips?

So I've known about the JIS screwdriver for years thanks to my push bike background (one of the biggest manufacturers uses them) but I've never bothered to actually go out and buy any, just made do with Philips and thankfully never had a problem with stripped screw heads. Recently been thinking about wether Subaru use JIS or Philips for their screws. Anybody able to confirm either way? If Subaru do actually use JIS screws then I might actually go and buy myself some.

As Subaru is a Japanese company I would have thought so.

An interesting article on the whole screw head subject

My first thought was the same - they're Japanese so surely they would use JIS. But all the screws I've removed have fitted my PH2 screwdrivers so well it made me wonder. I realised I actually have some good quality JIS bits in an iFixit kit I have but they only go up to size 1, useless for this application.

I'm tempted to order one of those Vessel JIS screwdrivers from Japan. Even if it's no better, it'd still be cool to have a JDM screwdriver in the toolbox Or there's that Park Tool DSD-2 that's not far off £30 for one screwdriver! It is pretty though...
