Engine abnormalitles
Hello all,
I joined this forum because the New Zealand equivalent is worse than useless!
I have a manual 2000 2.0 EJ20 GG Wagon, non-turbo bug eye. 200k ks (not sure what that is in miles) Great little car, very nippy. It has a bit of an issue though in that, when I am driving at less than 3k revs, mostly accelerating, there is a sluggishness and lack of power. The car sort of feels a bit like it's bouncing until it gets to around 2.8k then it the power kicks in and we're off. Honestly it feels a bit like turbo lag but it definitely isn't that... I've checked my motor mounts and they look ok. The revs down bounce around or anything, it just takes longer to get out of that power band. Sitting at idle, it's a bit lumpy. Anyone any ideas on what to check out first before I go giving it to a mechanic?
There is another problem too. At highway speed (60mph in NZ) at 3k revs, there is a buzz that comes through the gear stick and steering wheel. Once it drops below 3k revs it's gone and it's worse on deceleration. I wonder if they are linked?
Cheers for your help lads and ladies
