Default Missing front wheel arches?

When I bought my 2008 sti hatch I noticed both front arches had been removed I am looking at buying replacements but am wondering why they’ve been removed? The wheels are after market at size 245 40 18. The questions is will these rub??

245/40/18 are standard tyres for the saloon so should be no problem on earlier hatches depending upon the wheel ET.

Does it look like the car was previously slammed to the ground ? rubbing issues etc ? Or shes been in a smack :O

Id say it prob had over sized wheels at one point but worth throwing an eye on the chassis legs etc for damage if your worried

It’s not slammed looks factory height to me, I’ve got some god speed discs and CL pads coming (just in time for the ring) so i’ll Give them a good inspection when I fit them. Just don’t want to buy replacement arches and find out they rub on half lock 😡

Me personally wouldn't run with no arche trim on a daily or even a weekend cars as the amount of crud and crap that will accumulate in the rain, not worth the hassle, not to mention electrics that is usually hidden my the trim.

If its standard height/rims/tyres it shouldn't rub at all.. even up to a 1 or 2 inch drop
