Default Water temp gauge fitting kit

On Scoobyworx they stock two different sizes with the 38mm being the largest. I measured the outside diameter of my top hose which feeds to a mishimoto radiator and it measures 45mm. Will this fit? I’m thinking once it’s in place and the clamps are tightened it will fit perfectly well.

Probably. I can't remember what diameter I used.

Two points: I'd be inclined to buy a new top hose. I didn't, but manipulating mine to cut it accurately caused a pinhole leak. When I removed it, the inside looked like someone had had a go at it with a razorblade

And secondly, I'd be inclined to put the new gauge sender where the old one is, if it will fit, since that's the best place for it, and the new gauge is likely to be far more accurate. Don't forget a decent earthing wire from the screw on the new fitting to the engine block, or even back to battery -ve.

I have read online that the best place to take the temp reading from is as you’ve stated.

I don’t mind using the top hose as I believe the distance from where the sensor is at the moment not far enough to cause a big enough drop in temp to be of concern. I may be wrong though. It’s all for peace of mind though as I’ve became paranoid about it.

Your car, your choice.

But if the new sensor physically fits, no problem, just extend the wire to the old one and put that in the new fitting.

Don't forget, either way, to drain the coolant and refill using my method, to avoid airlocks.

Yep.....your method? I'll need to have a look.
