Default Valve cover seals.

Completed the valve cover gaskets. Left side last week. Right side yesterday. No issues what so ever all previous oil leaks now solved. BUT. Now I have smoke coming from under the bonnet ? Not an oil leak in site . Smells like burning oil on exhaust. How long should this last or does it need a few more heat cycles? Obviously oil drained on to exhaust when the valve covers were opened on the right hand side ,is there somewhere it would have gone that I can't see or will it eventually burn off? Any ideas?

Some models have a gauze heat pad on the inside of the header heat shield on the drivers side and this can soak up oil and cause smoke and burning smell.

oil from the rocker box cover drops straight on to the exhaust - it will burn off (eventually...)

Also wipe underneath the engine block.oil runs out under there when you remove the cover.

Thanks guys. I've been under it today and cleaned up everything with brake cleaner. Also removed the padding from the under tray as that was oil soaked don't know wether that's a good idea or not?
