Air oil separator
Anyone using an air oil separator ?
Been reading up on them and they sound like a good bit of kit.
I like the idea of it increasing intercooler efficiency by reducing the amount of oil deposited into the intercooler and intake system. And also reducing the likelihood of detonation also.
worth doing anyone ?

This and the similar Prova version appear to be discontinued. Nearest to it would be the Grimspeed or you are looking at a catch can

Cheers, I was looking at deleting the PCV; I know the car ran with it un-plumbed for a while until I spotted the hose was disconnected but I'm not sure how the car will run with the valve removed from the inlet. It needs remapping anyway with the other changes I've made...

Only if your piston rings are in such a state as to be passing products of combustion.
All you are doing is removing the oil droplets formed in the crankcase air volume, above the oil level, by the rotating elements and any oil being sprayed about for cooling.
Returning to the sump or collecting externally is better than burning it (unless you are in F1 )

Since fitting, oil consumption almost zero and intercooler internals remain clean.
It's listed on the TR US site but afaik it is discontinued

I'm about to pull the plug on this one

I appreciate it's expensive but from the research i've done it seems to be one of the best out there, VIP Motorsport are doing a black friday at the min with 10% off so it brings the price down a bit, any thoughts ?

where does it mount? only one id seen that like before was the crawfords one and it was LHD car fitment
i sure as hell wouldnt be paying £480 for one, youd be better off with a catch can setup or a oil filler mounted AOS for like a quarter of the cost.
i run a filler mounted AOS with the return plumbed into a small catch can soley in case of surge

Hi Gambit
Thanks for the photos, yeh the IAG one with being made for the US market so is designed for left hand drive vehicles, it's just the mounting bracket that needs adjusting apparently, VIP motorsport who are based near Ellesmere Port said that Chevron Motorsport who will be working on my car soon have fitted several of these, yeh it is expensive i agree. I'm not sure i could fit what you have in that same location as i have a large aftermarket overflow tank in that area, you'll see the yellow cap in the pic where it is. Before i pull the plug on it i'll speak with Simon at Chevron to see what he suggests.

thats simply because they have made the 'kit' on that car.........there is little difference in the scheme of things on the engine bay of the Hatch cars just that maybe you will need to play with pipe lengths and mounting position slightly
