Advice on pistons
Hello all, first post as v new to the forum.
Ok, recently bought a late 97 JDM
WRX with a damaged engine. It apparently picked up the damage on a trackday abroad and was driven back. I managed to get the engine running, oil pressure is fine but smokes a little and seems to be running on 3-3.5!! Previous garages summary was thst it may have overheated and a piston has picked up. There is no bottom end rattles I can make out.
So, found a place in Shipley, Yorkshire who can rebuild the engine at a reasonable cost, but has said its upto me if I want to go down tbe forged route. Im not bothered about that much more power over the standard 280ps it's supposed to have, so wondered if I should bother with the extra expense of forged components? In short, what pistons will it have and therefore, what should I replace them with?
Thanks in advance, sorry if its a dumb question
