Default What engine can I drop in my 98 uk?

Hi people, I've recently had my engine stripped and what went from head gasket issue slowly grew to number 4 piston aswel as metal filings in the oil. Now a used bottom end has been sourced, stripped and rebuilt with new shells and rings. I have today had a phone call saying after the skim of my heads, there is black rust spots still on the head and that he will not fit them to my bottom end ( which i am happy with his honesty ) but now getting heads seems an expensive hobby, he has told me that my heads have to have the inlet manifold bolts inline rather than offset. Could anyone point me in the right direction as to where to go from here? Can I drop different heads on my block and if so what do I have to change to match the heads other than the obvious inlet manifold.
All help appreciated!
