Default Header Tank Lid

Morning guys,

Does anyone who if you can remove the Lid only on the header tank without removing any fluids so that I can refurb it and refit it again.

It has a lot of surface rust so was going to remove it paint and refit it.

Many thanks,

Use a syringe or a syphon pump to suck all the water out of the header tank, you can then remove it from the car complete. Plug the water pipes on the car so no foreign objects can get in.

When you reassemble the tank use some Threebond sealer either side of the gasket as they have a habit of leaking once they've been separated. Refit and refill the tank with coolant and there should be no bleeding necessary as its the top of the system.
