Default Forged engine

Hi....

Looking to buy a nice clean gc but was thinking of going down the forge engine route and wanted to know price involved for a all in Inc mapping cost

Cars a lovely v4 sti with fmount, 6spd box and xhaust

Looking to run sc billet turbo so wanted supporting enginge/mods. Looking for around 400hp.

Was looking to swap a v7 jdm engine in it but far too much involved to go down the management route not even talking about finding a nice engine so forging current would make more sense.

Thanks for looking and thanks for help.

Newage shortblock would do for 400 using your heads being the cheapest option.
Around 4-6k and beyond for a forged shortblock depending on what internals you choose.

Edit: I'm running around 400bhp using sc42 twin scroll billet and on a standard classic bottom end

Yeah about 4-5k plus mapping etc, as your v4 ecu dont think its mappable so youll need ecu.
Or newage ej207 block with current heads circa £1k plus mapping/fitting or if wanting full engine for avcs then a vvt mappable ecu etc but again will need mappable ecu if the v4 ecu isnt mappable

I started with the idea of a v7 bottom end swap then when it was stripped it end up basically scrap! The outcome was a £5200 2.1 stroker build , other bits and pieces and 500bhp

I've upped the boost back to 1.6bar,I need to tweak the map a little as I'm overshooting to 1.7,but this old block of yours really sounds sweet and the car drives/pulls so well!
I'm need to sort a blowing manifold, fit a 3 port bcs and tweak the map a little then it's going on the dyno to see what power it's running,I'm not usually fussed for numbers but i must admit I'm itching to find out

Manifold issue is a pain in the *** mate, only thing I could think of is a flat block and sand.
Would be nice to see what power your running although its not about the numbers. There's life in the old dog yet
Simon always said it sounded sweet and we always wondered how far we could push it. Only time will tell my friend

I've had the dam manifold off twice now and think it's never gonna be right, one side of the flange is 5mm and the other side side of the same flange is 7.5mm,I did get it looking a bit better but I might have to give in and buy a new one, might give it another go tho as I don't like to give up haha.
Hopefully this summer I will have a dyno run and see where the numbers are,my guess is close to 400bhp

Try your local machine shop mate. I estimate a bit more if your willing to push it. I had 400, 420 would be easy.
I'll be going GT30 soon if your looking for a new turbo let me know lol

420 is defiantly possible with the sc42 but the engine would probably be at it's limit.
I will see if there's a decent machine shop local to sort this manifold out tho before buying another,it's gotta be worth another try!

GT30 will be very nice indeed
What turbo you running now mate?

Sounds like it's up there with the best stock location true 500bhp bolt on turbos

I'm pretty pleased with my turbo tbh,400bhp did used to be the benchmark on these cars but them days are long gone,600 is the new 400

these the ones with the banana flange on one side?

might be worth welding a new flange off, rather than buying a new set (assuming they're expensive manifolds)

I've not heard of a banana flange but that pretty much sums up my RH flange,I can't get the bugger to seal! I might get the car warmed up and give it a few more Nm on the nuts.
New flange welded on might be a good call, they're oem EL headers but even they're expensive 2nd hand.

Cheers Henrik, you did advise in my 'Manifold blowing at the flange' thread, you didn't use the banana description but that describes my flange to a tee
