Default slight ticking noise 05 sti

I've got a slight ticking noise coming from the top left of engine bay looking at the car which increases with revs.

Have only just purchased the car and had been sat for a while and on the 100 mile journey home the eml light came on which has now gone off?

A mechanic pal has plugged his diagnostics kit in which came back as lambda bank 1 but he thinks the ticking we can hear is the uppipe/downpipe gasket which in turn may of triggered the lambda fault?

Cars drives 100% has fsh and pulls hard

My lambda bank 1 CEL - P0171 - was caused by an exhaust gasket recently.

For agggges I was worried about it possibly being overly noisy valves needing an adjust, but they are actually just a normal amount of noisy. Had injectors cleaned as well. Wasn't that either.

£30 job sorting new gasket and no more ticking

Yes mate, this is exactly what i think is the cause of mine, not a straightforward job replacing the gaskets though, well my mechanic mates just done a clutch on a 6 speed and he said it was a nightmare as all the bolts snap off, will try the gaskets first and go from there
