I'm sure there would be interest in such items as:

Toucan
Shiftlight
Syvecs Expansion Unit
Coilpack conversion looms
AVCS conversion looms
3 port boost solenoids
Sensor packs
Pre99 boost solenoid harness
clutch switch for flatfoot shift
etc...

If there is enough interest then I would like
The clutch switch
Boost solenoid harness
And version 3 MY97 coil pack conversion loom

I know that Toucan is obviously designed to work with Alcatek... But can it also be made to work with its 'predecessor,' Simtek "II" (what I have), somehow?

Works with:

Syvecs
AlcaTek (including upgrsde of original SimTek to be an AlcaTek)
MoTeC
MBE
Link
Vi-PEC
Simtek 2 (GEMS)

So that's a "yes" I hope!

Damn, after all this time, I only thought it was for Alcatek! Had no idea.

I know it was defo the revised version of the board. The late, great JGM sold it to me and mapped it, etc. I know it was the one that could be exchanged for Alcatek (remember that fiasco?).

So I 'think' I have Simtek 2 then.

That won't be a Simtek 2 - that's the ECU that Steve Simpson now does, made by GEMS; the original SimTek, that JGM regularly installed/mapped, evolved to be the AlcaTek. Any such "original" SimTek can become an AlcaTek with a firmware upgrade, and it then supports Toucan.

The upgrade is best coordinated through a mapper/dealer.

Yes, this is what I thought.

So, as it stands, my Simtek cannot directly communicate with Toucan i.e. it MUST be upgraded (exchange board?) to Alcatek, first?

Its a firmware upgrade rather than board swap but, yes, needs to be done before Toucan will work with it.

Does anyone still offer the upgrade. It used to be 70 quid IIRC? But, back in the day, no-one seemed to take responsibility for it... As said, it turned into a bit of mess, from a customer relations POV.

You will need to go through a mapper or dealer. Engine tuner or the likes.

Think it was roughly £100 when I did mine las year

Not had a chance to get up a GB list yet - but not forgotten. Will add as many things as I can - if not everything lol.

SimTek upgrade can be a PITA but best is to get it done through a mapper, such as Bob Rawle or Martyn Jeffery (others too of course!) as they do seem to have the best success in getting it onto the AlcaTek radar.

You can put one there...but whether it does anything depends on what ECU you have

I know, the classic vents are no way that bigger.
May look at dropping it in lower below stereo and cut a custom gap for it

Will most pressure and oil/ air temp sensors work with an alcatek and toucan ?? i have a depot multi gauge already installed and would be handy if i can just rewire the sensors i have and then just order the extra's i want to add.

I will be treating myself to a toucan once you get the group buy going

I was intending to place mine in the gap for the radio as Ive got a single din dash top that replaces the factory clock, I have my avcr in there at present as an easy to read boost gauge which can now stay put as the toucan will go in the vent.
