EJ25 SOHC MY00 runs for 4 seconds and dies..
Hello,
I have a Subaru EJ25 NA from a 2000 legacy in my VW Camper, it worked before I installed it in the camper.
It has NEVER run longer than 4 seconds....it has a new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new fuel hoses with 35psi pressure.
New Air filter, vacuum hoses and clips...with no apparent air leaks anywhere.
No error codes flashing up....
It starts on the button, if you touch the throttle it dies...it only runs for 4 secs and dies, you hear the fuel pump running on after. You can start it again and again and again....each time dies after 4 secs.
Any thoughts ?

Shouldn't be any loom problems then as rich is spot on , I'd defo be looking for a air leak as sounds exactly the same as when I did my focus rs conversion into a transit connect , would start but would die after a few secs , turned out to be a pipe was leaking air that everyone had missed ,, might not be the case as yours is a NA but it's where I would start
Easy way to test is get some brake cleaner and spray all the joints if it revs up then you have a leak ,, did you remove the inlet to reverse your water manifold as iv seen the inlet leak due to not being tightened down enough many times and this can cause problems

Hi, Yeah i've triple checked all the hoses, replaced vac hoses and clips.....tried spraying carb cleaner around the joints only on Friday, no change in engine note......I rebuilt the engine, well head gaskets & seals etc, didnt split the block...so was fairly careful with torquing everything back up with new gaskets.....its infuriating.

YES
I had the inlet pipe off today, manually blipped the throttle and squirted carb cleaner into the throttle body and got it to run...this was the longest its ever run....
So, what does that leave me with ? Is there a signal that shuts down the injectors after 4 seconds or are you thinking something else ?
Cheers, Richard
