Had this topic in the general forum, but not much response as its "slipped down the charts".

Bonnet creaks like mad when the engine has warmed up. It is especially bad when the sun has been beating down on it. At its absolute worse it provides a lovely creak in the cabin once on the move
Any cures/suggestions, mine can't be the only one surely ?

Yorkie, I'm starting to think you need a louder CD player or a walkman. They all seem to do it, WRX's and STI's alike. Mine is only apparent when I wash it and press on the hood. Can't hear it in the cabin at all. No idea at all what causes it.

The STI has less rattles than my old MY00, and even then most are my fault - the odd 5p left in the side pocket or tictacs in the glove compartment.

Many years ago drove a colleague nuts by putting ball bearings behind his hub caps. Moving quickly, no problem due to centrifugal force. Anything less than 5mph and all hell was let loose. Poor lad, took him over a week to find the culprits. And no, I didn't nobble your bonnet.

No, I think the best cure is a WR sport exhaust or PPP to make the cabin "less refined". Its just too damn quiet in there. My previous MY99 drowned all those rattles (though it had a lot less after 3000 miles)
