Passing an MOT... Emissions...
Hi all,
i have had my Blobeye STI for 12 months now and the ever exciting MOT test has rolled around, the car has had a remap and decat all done by the previous owner who got it MOT'd a few days before i picked it up, I have not modified the car at all since i got it and unfortunately the only thing stopping it from sailing through the MOT test is the emissions..
Now im sure on a forum full of modified impreza's I cant be the only person with this issue! so does anyone have any ideas or advice on how to get it MOT'd without resorting to buying a full standard exhaust system... and before i tear all of my hair out
Many Thanks
Seb

Here is a question regarding MOT,
I think it was 1994 when cats became mandatory,
Say you used an Ej20 block from that time,
Engine is then the oldest part of car, so should it not go through emission relative to the engines age ?

Did you get the exhaust really hot just before the test (not sat around with the emissions done last)?
It might pass with a really hot exhaust, but I think you can now get a fail if there isn't a cat visible. Obviously in your case they've not failed you for not having a cat, so getting it really hot may get you a pass.
Dave.

Basically you have 2 options, or should i say 2 legal options, either remove the decat and buy a standard cat, as there will be plenty lying around in peoples garages on this forum, swap it over for mot as long as you have a 2.5" system.
Other option is to buy a sports cat, and replace decat with that, no more future hassle.
