Default Brake piston rewind kit

Trying to free pistons on daily driver, just wondering if this kit will do it?

Most kits have location pins that fit into holes on pistons, but impreza's don't have locating holes.

The Pistons should just push back in , under control and with some thing stopping the piston going too far get some one to push the brake pedal that should free it up

If your pistons are seized , you need to get them out not push them back in , and for reference the Subaru pistons don't wind in , just push in.

If the pistons are rusty , as the 4 pot ones do , they will need changing , you can get someone to apply the brake pedal while you keep a watch to make sure the pistons don't come out all the way , if you get them say half way out , remove the dust boots and have a look at the state of the pistons , if it's just dust or road grime , it will clean off , then refit the boots and push the pistons in , if the pistons are rusty and you push them back in , it will stick even more

We can help you with any parts if needed

Cheers Ian

Cheers for help Ian, i understand they don't rewind in and push in, as i've stripped down a set for rebuilding before.

They do have abit of rust on them but, i need the car on the road, it just needs new pads, until i get around to sorting out pistons. Just need a kit to push the pistons back, as i tried a vice but didn't work. If i take it the local garage they have kits for it, makes life alot easier.

Your pistons are jammed so badly they won't even push back in with a vice, but you still want to drive the car without stripping the calipers down and properly sorting them? I suppose you'll always have the handbrake, if you need to stop in an emergency

If they are that bad to get out they are pretty bad , you may get more pressure by operating the brakes to push them out but as I said don't let them go too far , if that's not happening either a refurb or used or new

Well it would be handy to have a kit, just for future use, easier than using a vice to push them back in.

As i said its just a temp fix as i need the car. Ive checked the pistons they don't look that bad.

Think its best to up grade to 4 pots as 2 pots are pricey.
