Default Subaru Type R 1997

Hi All

I really need some help here. Unfortunately my existing Apexi exhaust has to be replaced as its full of rusty holes, its a one piece system.

I bought an exhaust off ebay which said it would fit my car however it wasn't a great fit and ended up being around 3" too short.

So bought another and that is the same.

My car is non runner so Tim Farmer has to come to my house to fit it so we don't have the facilities too mod it to fit.

I have looked at other second hand exhausts and it seems they would fall short too.

Why is this? I thought about buying a section section and backbox but I think they would fall short.

I would rather buy a middle section then backbox so if I want to change the backbox I could.

Its a 3" system I am after and it will be bolting onto a scoobybits sports cat.

HELP ME

Take a look at the downpipe. Some are longer than others.

About 4 inches in difference.

There is a difference between USDM and JDM downpipes. It could be that you somehow have the wrong downpipe on your car.

A newage system will fit a classic if a full turbo back.
The newage dp is shorter afaik, sounds like you had a newage system on there and have bought a classic catback.

Rich is correct, you either need to buy a Classic down pipe or a cat bcak newage system, id buy a classic down pipe. As the Newage system brackets don't line up well.

Had one fitted on my classic years ago. Where's the hole for the lambda sensor on the down pipe?

It would be better for you to measure this yourself if you can, on your actual car. Take a reference measurement of how far back the center pipe reaches with your old system fitted, and then see how far short of that point your new center pipe reaches. If you have to, err slightly on the side of too-long than too-short with your extension piece, and have the far end of the backbox sticking out a couple of centimeters further past the end of the car, than too short and venting exhaust into your boot.

The difference is roughly 100mm, had a similar issue myself on my R.

I don't see the point just buy the correct exhaust for your car, less hassle than getting a section madeup, and having some messy setup underneath.

Actually you are wrong there. I have a Scoobybits Downpipe with Sports Cat which I want to keep as it was expensive and its less hassle when it comes to MOT and the Police doing random stops.

So for the sake of buying half a metre of exhaust pipe and getting Tim Farmer to make fit, I find this less hassle than trying to find another decent sports cat and the rest of the exhaust. Especially when at the moment I have two exhaust systems in my living room which will fit nicely once Tim fits the extra bit of pipe.

Errrr no i'm not wrong, i've fitted over 10 exhaust systems.

What hassle will you get with police and Mot centre? I've been running a Ninja sports cat for over 6 years? You just need a classic down pipe to hook up to your classic rear cat back systems not a Newage down pipe.
