Default Grinding noise when pulling off from stopped

Hi all,

I have a perplexing problem that hopefully you can help with. After my car has been parked up for a while, I get a grinding noise when pulling away from stopped. It sounds like metal on metal grating, almost as if the exhaust has dropped and hit the tarmac. It does NOT then come back when driving or when stopping at lights etc....

Have checked that the exhaust is all good, rear pads and discs seem ok so not sure what to check next.

I assume it is something to do with the handbrake?

Regards,

Are they standard discs or two piece ones? I get a grinding noise from my two piece ones, more so when it hasn't been used for a while.
