Default Decat Exhaust - 02 sensor query

Hi Guys,

Not sure about this one. Ive got a HKS full decat turbo back exhaust for my scoob, and only recently Ive seen the eml come on, which reports faulty o2 sensor.

Now, I can see the o2 sensor down behind the driver wheel, but I cant for the life of me see the other, should be near the TMIC shouldn't it? Looks like the exhaust has a blanking plate there to be honest.

Ive got it booked into the garage anyway, but is there any reason why this would suddenly throw up a code?

It is remapped by scooby clinic, not sure if they deleted the code via map or something and its come back?

I just want to understand what my cars doing!

Thanks guys.

the front sensor is near the wheel yes. i think the other is in the middle section of exhaust. any other symptoms like rough idle or revs creeping up or down on idle? poor mpg and a rich smell from engine /exhaust are other signs as well. i replace mine 6 months ago was an easy job. i think you have to reset the ecu once fitted but the garage can advise you on that.

It drives perfect, it doesn't smell especially rich. It does the occasional "pop" but I guess that was due to setup and having no cats.

MPG isnt great but its not shocking.

This is the thing, it drives and behaves completely normal.

switch it off and see if it stays off. if it comes on again then investigate. im guessing you havent changed anything that would need a map tweek?

Already cleared the code, came straight back.

Nope, nothings changed!

I was told that its due to decat by a non specialist Subaru garage and that makes sense, what doesnt is why its suddenly come on.

but the decat would have been mapped in at map time? you could try unpluging it and plugging it back in as it may have come loose or a bad connection. its easy to get to, the plug is right beside the boost control solenoid. just trace the wire up from the 02 sensor. worth a try.

Yeah checked all connections too, oh well, see what a new sensor does!
