Default 6 Speed Conversion

Hi Guys,

My 5 speed box finally gave up last night in my 2.1 Blob Wagon , Changed from 1st to 2nd enthusiastically made a load bang then lots of horrible rattling noises and no drive. Managed to find 3rd gear after lots of jabbing about with the gearstick and limped it home in 3rd.

I've managed to find a UK Non DCCD 6 Speed at a good price, which will have everything I need to fit to the car (Box, slave cylinder, mounts, prop, linkage etc etc). I'm going to keep my 5 speed flywheel for now, I have an Exedy pink box clutch fitted at the moment with about 25k miles on it so will make sense to change it too. I don't know whether to put another Pink box in or I'm starting to hear good things about the Competition Stage 2 Clutch also? And I think that clutch would take more power?

I'm keeping my rear diff and rear end as it is as it's the correct ratio, is there anything else I need to be thinking about for the swap? Will be done on a driveway which won't be fun but needs must.

Cheers,

Scott

Sounds like you have it covered Scott. You have to use a 5 speed starter with 5 speed flywheel. I would think about running the 6 speed though, the 6 speed pink box will take well over 400ftlbs, ive run one car at 475ftlb, no problems.

I'm only at about 340 ft/lbs at the moment. Tempted to see how much meat is left on the clutch that's in it and stick with it for now as it's only got about 25k on it.

Ordered 5L so should be enough, new roll pins for the front driveshafts also and new split pins for the bottom ball joint nuts.
