Question Passenger airbag deactivation in newage 04 STI

Hi all, I'm sure this has been asked before but thought I'd post up anyway because want to be sure. Just purchased a 2004 newage STI, I need to plan ahead for having a child seat in the front (rear facing). Is there an official way of deactivating the passenger airbag? I've seen people mention various pikey methods of just unplugging the airbag unit and then getting rid of the associated warning light...

But is there a proper way of doing it? I must admit, I haven't looked in the car yet to see if there is a switch. It just occured to me at work....

any help appreciated, cheers
