Unhappy

I've just got a 96 Turbo UK wagon with 44k on the clock. The MOT's due next week and i've contacted the garage where the previous owner had it serviced to book it in. The nice lady on the end of the phone said that although the cars only done 44k, it is due for the 60k service (which is big bucks), she said that they go by age not milage which I seem strange.

Is this correct and was the old boy that had the car before me done?

Anyone help?

Cheers

Puppy,
Subaru UK recommended servicing intervals are every 7.5k miles or 6 months whichever comes first. The 7.5k are oil/filter changes and every 15k a relevant service they get larger as they go up to 45k which includes the dreaded cambelt your 60k will be a 30k service schedule which includes a full lube job and should cost around £300

The MY01 cars changed from 7.5k to 10k mile intervals earlier this year. Mine was in for it's 30k service (the fourth one at 7.5k intervals). They took my service record book off me and posted me a new one a few days later with 10k intervals in it.

Not sure if this also applies to the earlier cars.

It makes little difference as the 45k service (cambelt) is expensive too

Well that the confusing thing cause the cambelt has been done. I wish they would just go by milage, I don't see where the age comes in.

Fluids age whether they're used or not. Certainly the cambelt will perish as the ozone in the air attacks it. Better to play it safe.
