Could you tell me please something about your new pump as I have also bought one from Mark but haven't yet fitted?
From what I can see the Walbro GSS341 pump has on the top two small terminals without any connection on them. There is no short-circuit danger if/when the fuel wets the terminals as they are negative and positive poles?
The pump has also the top outlet reverse to the original outlet, will it needs slight bend in order to fit straight to the fuel rail?
Thanks in advance.

Jim,
Electrical terminals same as OEM pump on mine.
OEM leads are `open` at the top as well.
The top of the pump was `reversed` on mine as well. I cut a bit off the pick-up pipe so the rubber pipe runs in an S.
The OEM pumps vary year to year. A 97MY I know had one twice the diameter of the FSE one!
Running no worries!

Just a quick note:
There appears to be two types of pump fitted to our cars, and it seems that there is no way of telling which one you have, until the original pump is removed.
So far, no one has had a problem fitting the FSE/Walbro pump, but some people have had to "tweek" the pipe as described.
If anyone is really concerned, the option is to remove your pump first, take a note of the pipe position, then replace the pump, and let the supplier know. There is an alternative pump available, but I doubt it's worth going through the hassle, to find out.
Mark.

To be honest, I havent fitted it yet so couldnt tell you... its still on the bench... No there is no danger of the fuel shorting it out at that voltage, however ensure you make the connections properly... my replacement has a plug and flying lead... these will be soldered and heat shrunk if need be... but ill test the heatshrink in some petrol first... and wont heat near the tank!
Shouldnt be too hard to make anything fit... lots of flexy pipe and throw it in the tank

Jim,
The pump will be fully submerged when the tank is full.
The wires on the stock pump are not insulated.

As JamesS pointed out, I bought one of these pumps from Mark (cheers Mark!) and I did have to modify my terminals to suit.
I have a 97/98MY and the OEM pump was twice the size of the Walbro/FSE one.
The hose connection lined up with a bit of finessing and the wiring terminals were all in the right places. However, I had to use the new fly leads supplied in Mark's kit and connect them to the old male connector. This is where soldering and heat shrink is used. I took out the pins from the male connector and cut the wires off leaving about 10-15mm of wire left on the pins. Strip the insulation off of these and clean the wires with emery cloth. Strip new fly leads and solder to suit. Shrink wrap/heat shrink right up to the pin connectors then replace pins back into male connector and 'Bob's your Uncle'!
Much improved fuelling even running standard injectors, but now I need to another bloody remap due to more % FF especially on cold start giving me Bore washing
Worth while mod if your thinking of mappable ECU's/running lean/pump sha66ed.
Jacko. hope this helps?
