Default Radiator drain valve

Trying to drain the coolant from my 2007 STI and when I turn the tap on the radiator drain valve nothing comes out the pipe. If I turn it further (maybe 3 turns) coolant starts to leak from the tap itself.

Any idea how far the tap is supposed to turn before coolant comes out the pipe?

I might try poking something up the pipe to see if the valve is blocked.

Any ideas? I guess I might need to take off the undertray and undo the bottom hose if I can't get the drain valve to work.

Its better to take the bottom hose off. It drains better and sometimes the valves dont seal again.
