Default Fans not cutting out

I have just bought a version 5 sti wagon. When the fans start they never go off. Not sure about when the car is moving but definatly not while stood still. I'm wondering if it's part of the map. Car has a simtek and was mapped by jgm in 2012.

I wouldn't have thought it was part of the map to run almost constantly, possibly a faulty coolant temperature sensor as the Ecu uses this input to control the fans, assuming coolant levels are all correct.

All levels are spot on as I've just done a full flush as part of the new car piece of mind service. Where will the temp sensor be so I can swap it for 1 I know works of my other car. Cheers

Sensor Is located under the inlet manifold. I'm taking this of anyway at weekend to replace with a fresh powder coated one so I can kill two birds with one stone. Hope it is the sensor as it's doing my head In.

As far as I know it's on the coolant crossover pipe, I could be wrong about the Simtec. You could monitor the cts with a multi meter as it warms up from cold I'm sure the range is 0-5 v, 5v being cold and it will drop as it warms up the voltage will drop. I'm sure about .88 v is normally operating temp and fans kick in about .6 v

At what point do the fans come on ?
As soon as its started even when cold or when it gets up to temp and doesn't switch off?

When it gets up to temp. I can turn the engine off then back on again straight away and they don't come back on instantly only after a while but never go off after they have kicked in

Not that it makes any difference but it was mapped in Feb 2014 not 2012.

Ok, thinking on it I'm sure that it is possible to set the minimum temperature range for the fans to come with the Simtec and it could be that it requires to be raised a degree or two in the map to stop fans coming on during normal operating temps. Has it always done this since it was remapped in 2014 ?

Iv only had the car for a little less than a month an it's done it since I got it. Problem with any map tweeks is it was mapped by jgm on surrey rolling road. I know Duncan has took on all his work but to travel from bolton just for a tweak is a nightmare an I also didn't get the dongle when I got the car. I will be replacing the turbo, injectors an exhaust in the new year so will need a map then. Will probably end up using steve simpson or andy Carr as they are both a lot more local for further tweaks etc.
