Default gearbox issue

hi after some advice please... ive got a bug wrx which the gearbox selects all gears fine, however when car warm it will clunk when low speed cornering etc....i believe this to be the viscous coupling/centre diff....

my question is.....

is it possible to partially rebuild the gearbox ie the part thats broke only and would this involve complete removal of the gearbox....

ive rang a couple places in hampshire and have had qoutes ranging from £700 up to £1200 so im lost to actually whats involved and why such a price range difference....

Anything is possible.

I had a "noisy" center diff, Alyn @ AS Performance sorted it for me.

Text relating to the three images below taken from the AS Performance page of Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/ASPerformanceUK/

draining gear oil and inspecting sump plug didn't bode well

transfer support bearing - seems to be too many gaps there.......

centre differential circlip?? unusual to say the least

Gearbox would need to be removed and opened up, to be on the safe side, if anything is found on the drain plug. Centre diff can be replaced in situ though.

Clutch might need changing at the same time, so that will add cost, that might be included in the prices you been quoted.
