nice result, but in this section you should be detailing how you did it

was the process similar to this?

Ha, not quite! You would just end up with shiney yellow and scratched headlights then!

I used scratch removal stuff, worked a treat, but discolration comes back, so i've heard you need to lacquer over it.

I had to sand a lot off my headlights to get rid of stone chips and deep scratches/imperfections, not sure compound in it's own would touch it. 500,800 then 3000 the lights are then clear and scratch free, then a compound only removed the haze from certain light conditions

"After watching WD last week" so last weeks' episode.
I'm not into telling people how to do things on here, not many people prepared to listen anyway, as you can see by reading this thread most think you can just polish the headlights with compound, this is definatly not the case.

Pointless posting pictures up if you don't share how you did it. Theres plenty of how to guides on this webisite that people use.

I've done the lights on my Blob twice. I've used a DA polisher and Autobrite Direct products and they came up really well. The biggest problem is that once they've yellowed and you polish them they have no UV coating to stop/slow the process down.
I've found a few potential products with UV protectants of which i will try one and see. But without them my lights started discolouring again within 6-8 months, even with a good quality wax and sealant.

Its like when you paint a car panel, you cant just machine polish it you first have to flat it back, for those of you that have done painting you will understand.

Was a joke .

Mine look like crap, I keep meaning to split them, detango and paint the insert black. But other things always need doing.

2000 wet flatted mine then machine polished(mopped) cost about 50p for flatting paper. Detangoed and satin blacked at same time.

I watched a video on youtube and they used a clear lacquer to stop them discolouring again, but what lacquer do you use, normal paint lacquer or a special light lacquer?

Any 2k high solids clear would do. I did contemplate spraying mine, but didn't want the clear chipping off.

I did this to my mates bora and the clear coated them. That's over a year ago and they haven't changed that I can tell anyway.
